Close to 200 residents from Atimonan on February 2 benefitted from the free medical and dental services provided by Atimonan One Energy, Inc. (A1E) under its Kaisa sa Kalusugan program.

Launched in 2015, the program aims to continuously provide medical and dental assistance to A1E’s host communities, particularly Barangays Caridad Ilaya, Villa Ibaba and Villa Ilaya.

Majority of the beneficiaries were senior citizens, women and children who do not have enough means to go to a hospital or consult a private physician for health check-up. The beneficiaries also received vitamins and complete dosage of prescription medicines.

A1E also provided free boat ride for the patients from Barangays Villa Ilaya and Villa Ibaba to encourage them to avail of the services.

Based on the data information from Atimonan Rural Health Unit (RHU), the barangays recorded a significant increase on the cases of acute respiratory infection (ARI) such as cold and cough.

The activity was timely since a number of residents were suspected with early stages of ARI because of the cold weather, according to Maricris Gollena, assigned health worker for the three barangays.

The medical check-ups could help avoid severe infections that could lead to pneumonia or tuberculosis, she added.

The medical and dental mission was done in partnership with the Atimonan RHU; the Department of Health and volunteer doctors and dentists from Alpha Phi Omega (APO).

The recent activity was also supported by A1E’s technical partners, who provided manpower and financial assistance. There were also volunteers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Sangguniang Barangay of Caridad Ilaya and Association of Barangay Health Workers.

A1E’s Kaisa sa Kalusugan flagship program a semi-annual activity that aims attend to the medical needs of Atimonanins.
