More than 100 students from Villa Ibaba Elementary School received new notebooks, pens, and other school supplies in a Brigada Eskwela activity conducted by employees of Atimonan One Energy, Inc. (A1E), Delta Earthmoving, Inc., Betonbau Phil. Inc., and Jacobs Projects (Philippines), Inc. last June 8.
“This kind of activity is a good way to immerse in the community especially since it gives employees like me a chance to interact with them on a personal level,” said Bismark Laciste, A1E Right-of-Way Officer.
The activity was spearheaded by A1E and was the second time they provided school supplies to the students of Villa Ibaba. The first one was done last year, June 28, with employees also pooling in their resources to provide these supplies for the students of the elementary school.
Villa Ibaba Elementary School is the only school in the barangay and is accessible from the town through a 30-minute boat ride or an hour walk.
“The outreach program has greatly helped our students and their parents as the extra money they are able to save can be spent on other necessities,” said Mr. Ricardo Saniel, teacher in-charge of the school.
Meanwhile, Brgy. Villa Ibaba Chairman Rogelio Balinsayo also expressed his gratitude to A1E and its partners for continuously sharing their blessings to the children of Villa Ibaba.
A1E and its partners believe in the importance of creating a holistic learning experience not only for the community but also for its employees by providing opportunities to volunteer in an activity like this.
This activity is also aligned with the company’s multi-faceted education program which includes projects such as improvement of educational facilities, provision of school supplies, learning materials and other resources for the students and the school.
