Rhey Alvin Pinon from Dinamico Construction, Inc. explains the responsibilities and importance of firewatchers and safety watchmen in a construction site on a training held last Feb. 22 at New Carinay Multi-Purpose Hall in Brgy. Villa Ibaba.
Atimonan One Energy, Inc. (A1E) spearheaded a training on flagman, firewatcher and safety watchman duties last February 22 at the New Carinay Multi-Purpose Hall in Barangay Villa Ibaba.
The company tapped its technical partners, Dinamico Construction, Inc. and Delta Earthmoving Inc., to provide insights to the 20 residents from Barangays Villa Ibaba and Villa Ilaya who were selected to participate in the training through interviews.
Rhey Alvin Pinon and Bernard Allan Unciano, safety practitioners from Dinamico and Delta, respectively, served as the resource speakers for the training. Among the topics discussed by Mr. Unciano were proper safety signaling using flags and indication systems that should be observed by flagmen.
“Flaggers are in charge of ensuring smooth, safe and efficient flow of vehicles within the construction sites and emergency areas to ascertain zero-accident and congestion-free work
zones,” said Mr. Unciano.
Mr. Pinon, for his part, discussed the responsibilities and importance of firewatcher and safety watchman in construction activities. These roles are important to eliminate and control fire hazards during welding and other activities done in the workplace, according to Mr. Pinon.
The participants were given certificates of attendance upon completion of the training.
A1E, under its Angat Kabuhayan livelihood and enterprise development program, aims to provide capacity building trainings to create more job opportunities and uplift the lives of the residents of Atimonan.
