OSCA President Mr. Pedrito Reynoso together with other co-officers receive the 400 pieces insulin plants donated by Atimonan One Energy last July 28.

Atimonan One Energy, Inc.(A1E) on July 28 turned over 400 insulin plants to the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) in Atimonan in a bid to provide alternative supplements to more than 2,500 diabetic elders in the municipality.

These insulin plants came from farmers of New Carinay Homeowners Association — the group of A1E housing beneficiaries from Barangay Villa Ibaba that also manages a Gulayan sa Bakuran.

The insulin plants were received by OSCA President Pedrito Reynoso and Barangay Health Workers (BHW) President Marieta Reyes.

The Atimonan local government, meanwhile, helped in the delivery of the plants to nine health stations in Barangays Balubad, Caridad Ibaba, San Isidro, Malinao Ilaya, Malusak, San Rafael, Lubi, San Andres Labak and Poblacion.

OSCA’s President Mr. Reynoso said he will encourage the members of his organization to propagate the insulin plants and other medicinal herbs.

A1E is the developer of the proposed 1,200-megawatt high efficiency, low emissions (HELE) coal-fired power plant in Barangay Villa Ibaba, Atimonan, Quezon. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen), the power generation arm of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).
