As part of its commitment to contribute in environmental protection, Atimonan One Energy, Inc. (A1E) joined a two-day tree planting activity organized by the Atimonan local government last October 30 to 31at the Quezon Protected Landscape (QPL).

The municipal-wide re-greening effort, led by the Municipal Environmental and Natural Resources Office, gathered some 100 individuals from government offices, barangays, the academe and the private sector in a bid to raise public awareness on the importance of reforestation and preservation of biodiversity.

Around 400 bighay kalabaw trees were planted at the QPL, which serves as a habitat for birds and wild animals. The tree saplings came from the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) of Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

This tree planting activity is part of the expanded national greening program of the government, which involves nationwide efforts to plant more trees in order to mitigate climate change and rehabilitate degraded forest areas.

A1E considers environmental stewardship a key pillar in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. It is the developer of 2x600MW coal power station that will utilize an advanced power plant technology known as of high efficiency, low emission (HELE) technology. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen), the power generation arm of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).
